چکیده

We consider the dynamics of chemical reaction networks under the assumption of mass-action kinetics. We show that there exist reaction networks R for which the reaction rate constants are not uniquely identifiable, even if we are given complete information on the dynamics of concentrations for all chemical species of R. Also, we show that there exist reaction networks R1 6= R2 such that their dynamics are identical under appropriate choices of reaction rate constants, and present theorems that characterize the properties of R, R1, R2 that make this possible. We use these facts to show how we can determine dynamical properties of some chemical networks by analyzing other chemical networks. aDepartment of Mathematics and Department of Biomolecular Chemistry, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI 53706. bDepartment of Mathematics, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI 53706. 1 2 IDENTIFIABILITY OF CHEMICAL REACTION NETWORKS

CRNreals: a toolbox for distinguishability and identifiability analysis of biochemical reaction networks

UNLABELLED Chemical reaction network theory is widely used in modeling and analyzing complex biochemical systems such as metabolic networks and cell signalling pathways. Being able to produce all the biologically and chemically important qualitative dynamical features, chemical reaction networks (CRNs) have attracted significant attention in the systems biology community. It is well-known that ...

Easy parameter identifiability analysis with COPASI

BACKGROUND AND SCOPE Differential equation systems modeling biochemical reaction networks can only give quantitative predictions, when they are in accordance with experimental data. However, even if a model can well recapitulate given data, it is often the case that some of its kinetic parameters can be arbitrarily chosen without significantly affecting the simulation results. This indicates a ...

Kinetic Mechanism Reduction Using Genetic Algorithms, Case Study on H2/O2 Reaction

For large and complex reacting systems, computational efficiency becomes a critical issue in process simulation, optimization and model-based control. Mechanism simplification is often a necessity to improve computational speed. We present a novel approach to simplification of reaction networks that formulates the model reduction problem as an optimization problem and solves it using geneti...

Single module identifiability in linear dynamic networks

A recent development in data-driven modelling addresses the problem of identifying dynamic models of interconnected systems, represented as linear dynamic networks. For these networks the notion network identifiability has been introduced recently, which reflects the property that different network models can be distinguished from each other. Network identifiability is extended to cover the uni...
